Hey Gang:

Well my hood doesn't fit (check the classifieds) so now I have to get a new one... This means that I have to have it painted... So -- now I'm thinking I might as well just drop the dime and get the entire car repainted... So who/where around the Seattle/Everette/Tacoma area do I take it to... I want a nice job, but I'm not looking for the $10,000 show job... Just no runs, no birdseyes, no streaks, etc...

Looking for suggestions.

Try Seattle Automotive. 206-284-7205. Ask for Jeremy and tell him Dave sent you.

This is great, because I was about to ask the same question.

Earl, your old paint is show-winning quality. Just get the hood painted. I doubt anyone will meet your standards.

I am surprised that Spyder is so high! Are you going to get a 6 inch cowl hood?

Send me a PM.

My painter pays wholesale for paint and does not mark it up. He has 35 years of experience and is very reasonable. He is also very anal.

Andy painted my cowl, and did a very nice job. My understanding was that he was not into the full car deal. I will have to drop him a note tho, because if he is then I would certainly consider having him do the entire car. He did a very nice job on the hood.

Stock:

I am going to have to go with a 4" cowl. Kinda going to ruin the "sleeper" look that I have tried to maintain. Even with the 4" I am going to have to have cut-out's for the power pipe elbow. It bends right at the strut towers and is just too high. That said, I am thinking it will look pretty damn mean with a couple of small cut outs on the hood.

While the paint on my car looks pretty good, it really takes a lot of maintenance to get it that way. And seeing how I am going to have to have another hood painted, and the difficulty of matching paint that is 15 years weathered, I am thinking that just going with a new paint job is the way to go. I will probably stick with the same color so I don't have to worry about door jams and such.
