I have a friend that just got a 2001 Cobra last week and he wants to race my 06 GT. The Cobra is bone stock and my 06 GT has a tune, pulleys, throttle body, exhaust, and CAI. Let me know what you think.

Probably a drivers race but the 06 should be a faster car with those mods.

You should win by more than half a second depending on your mods (what tune, exhaust, etc.). It would be a lot closer if you were stock but you shouldn't have much trouble with your mods. His car runs about 13.9 stock and you should be in the low 13s.

It should be really close. You have 3.55s or 3.31s?

Take it to the track and find out. I assume you're talking about racing at the track, because street racing talk is not allowed on this board. :SNSign:

If I remember correctly, the 01 Cobra comes 320hp stock. With your mods you should be able to take him on paper, but in the real world, it would be a drivers race.

The Cobra Mustangs are bad ass cars, but the 03-04 Cobras are a beast and they come stock with forged internals So if you do race a Cobra, make sure they are not 03-04's. They earned the name Terminators for a good reason.

Didn't they stop making cobras in 02 because they didn't live up to those HP claims?

This is a similar debate to the 05+ against the Mach 1, stock for stock and mod for mod the Mach should win with the slight weight advantage and fairly even on power/torque. Put them on a road course, however, and the 05+ should take it outright every time (given equal drivers).

I agree with you guys about the 03-04 Cobras. Those Cobras are bad ass and wihthout a supercharger I wouldnt have a chance. I havent run my 06 yet at the track but want to race my girlfriends brother in his 01 Cobra at the track in Orlando. I will let you guys know the outcome.

Your car should beat his, but I agree with it being in the driver's hands!
My auto ran a 13.34@104+ at full weight(Shaker1000, full interior and spare tire/jack)with 93 octane tune/CAI, 4.10s and O/R H with stock mufflers and OEM 18" BFG KDWS.

Hmmm,

I might be able to provide some personal insight on this very soon. I found a 2001 Cobra Convertible that I am looking at buying...

I would expect my 05 GT with it's mods to beat the Cobra I am looking at. Which would be funny because the 4V would be slower than my 3V which is slower than my 2V auto and all 3 are N/A...

There were no 2000s because the 99s didn't measure up. Thence came the 01.
