Who's waiting till after winter to get 05GT???

I am ordering a Sonic Blue after the winter. Mustangs and snow don't mix and I cannot see letting it sit all winter in the garage.

I might not wait, but it will stay in my garage all winter. I'm in Maine, but if the price is right, I'll buy it and let it sit.

We are waiting to see the convertible before making a decision. I like the fastback, but the wife would like a 'vert. We might wait a year (really hard to do!!) since we have a restoration project in the shop that is draining resouces (IE: $$$$$$).

Our son wants to sell his Eclipse Turbo and buy a new Mustang GT...IF he can swing the payments. He wants to wait until spring also. By then maybe some better deals can be found.

The snow doesn't bother me (mine goes great in the snow), but what they want for the new '05s right now is just crazy ... I refuse to pay the mark-up for one when they'll be cheaper in the spring. I'd rather wait a year or so anyway so all the bugs can be worked out of them.

I'm not really waiting due to weather - I live in Texas - I'm waiting so I can build up some extra money and also so that my insurance will be much lower when I get it. Two accidents will be off my record and I'll finally be beyond the 25 years old barrier.

I'm waiting for the '06s so they can work out the bugs as well as to see if more things similar to the engine issue TicketMeRed05GT has occur. Also, I want to see what the '06 Vista Blue looks like and if I don't like it, I'll be getting an '06 in Titanium instead.

In WI as well. Mine is currently on order as I know the ordering times are going to be nuts once spring rolls around.

I am going to reserve judgement on wether or not I am going to use this car as my winter driver. Keep in mind that this is a much different car than prior mustangs. The front/rear balance is 52/48, whereas the prior model was 57/43 which makes quite a difference (anyone who has driven a BMW will attest). Also another aid in winter driving is the traction control. don't forget that.

If I end up only driving it only in Spring/Summer (3 months total here in WI ) it will probably be more of keeping the miles down on the mustang issue than a lack of winter driveability issue.

The weather is not a concern here in GA; but I will still wait until spring. Pricing and first year reliability concerns are my reason for waiting.

Waiting For The Rag Top

I'm waiting for the convertible. Even in the winter, this shouldn't be too bad. With the extra weight of the 'vert plus the 72 Lbs in the trunk for the Shaker 1000 subwoofers along with traction control it should be managable, if you stay on the road and out of the deep stuff. I'm also waiting on the 18 inch wheels, and I hope they offer white leather with a white rag top. Bright red with white should look pretty sharp.

I'm waiting until after the first of the year for tax purposes. In Missouri, you don't have to pay personal property taxes for the first year that you own the vehicle. They base that on what year you purchased the car. If I buy it now they consider 2004 the first year of ownership even though I would have actually only owned the car for less than a month. I wouldn't have to pay taxes on it in 2004 but I would have to pay taxes for it at the end of 2005. If I wait until January, I won't have to pay taxes until the end of 2006.

If you were to order one now, you probably won't see it until late Feb or March anyway, but maybe you are thinking of tyring to get one off the lot...

Yes but I have a winter beater front wheel drive probe and my wife has her new car so it will never be driven in the winter.....

My Mustangs have always been garage queens, fair weather driving only! How can anyone even think of subjecting their pride and joy to driving in the snow with all that salt and sand that will eventually ruin their car???
I'll wait until summer, hopefully the 18" wheel option will be out by then and without a doubt, pricing will start to come down after this initial madness of almost everyone willing to pay MSRP settles down a bit!

What part of WI? I am just north of Milwaukee.

I don't necessarily mind driving on slippery roads, it's more the salt that will eat up the underbody of the car that pisses me off. As soon as it even starts to flury the salt is dropped down likes it's life or death. Sometimes the roads are just covered; it's very rediculous! I also had a run in with a light post with my former 94 5.0 because I hit black ice a few years ago. My '05 (when I get it) will be a garage queen for at least 7 months outta the year

salt will only ruin your car if you leave it there. When I drove my '94 in the winter I would get an underbody wash every couple weeks. The only place there was salt was in the 360 lbs of it in the trunk!!

As far as sand, you have to worry about that in Nevada a heck of a lot more than I do here in WI!

Don't get me wrong, I just may garage mine in the winter too, but these are solid American muscle cars,....not dainty Italian sport coupes!

We're pretty close. Im NW of Milwaukee in Germantown.

As far as salt goes, see my post above. In addition if (and I do emphasize IF) you are going to drive your Mustang in the winter, it is essential to get a good aftermarket underbody coating.

Sorry to hear about your '94. My '94 was totaled in June of '97 during a traffic light fiasco. I was heading north through a light, and a grand am was heading west through the same light. Problem was, we both had green lights. Both cars destroyed.

Winter

My wife and I will be waiting until spring to take delivery. That means we will be ordering no later than the end of January. I want the coupe and she wants the vert. Who knows??????????????

I'm waiting too, if I bought one now I'd barely drive it until late March.

Since I only have 23K miles on my '01 GT I have no need for a new car, so I can wait and by spring hopefully we'll know more about any changes for '06 or SEs so I can wait for a '06 SE if need be.
