I checked Advanced Auto, and Autozone and neither of them carry the cables, carparts.com has them for like $270+ a pair, why so damned expensive????

There's alot of connections on the positive cable which is probably why it's so expensive.

I bought mine from 50resto.com. The reason it is so expensive is because there is so many diff connectors on them. Its a complete harness just like the stock ones that fits perfectly into place and has every plug you will need.

It also includes the lower engine harness, which includes the O2 sensor wiring.

As for being worth $270, I don't think so. It's a nice, easy drop in solution, but too expensive. Your only other choice is to cut and crimp in new wires.

Figure out what you need and go to a car audio place and do a nice custom set-up for probably half that and it will be much more trick.

or even pull the wires and order a few amp wiring kits off ebay (usually $20 a piece and come with like 20ft of whatever size cable you want)

I made my own starter wires out of 4 gauge wire and gold plated terminal. I think I paid 15 bucks for an 4 ga amp wire kit on ebay and it had everything I needed. They have more copper wire strands (like 150) and seem to carry current better than the 16 or 32 wire cables that autozone type places sell. I even made a 4 ga ground where the other battery to body ground was 16 gauge. It looked cool too!

They aren't really bad per say, but I get a lot of junk built up on the terminals. I checked all grounds and stuff.

Can you just replace the terminals?

Good point. If your cables arent very corroded just cut them down some and replace the terminals. Mine were corroded well into the length of the cable so I decided to replace the entire assembly. But I think they were cheaper than $250 when I paid for them.

yeah, just remove the terminals, clean the copper wires on the battery cable, replace the terminal, spray some protectant spray and you are done.

Replacing the terminals does not fix the problem completly. Beleve it or not, the entire wire corrodes. If you cut the wire in the middle it may be a little green. That causes resistance and stops full power. I would just replace the whold cable with new copper, especially due to the age of the car. That is what I did. Starts strong every time. Even on a low battery.
