ok so hears the deal....not to long after installing a catted X pype on my car the SES light came on. well i got it scanned and it said rear o2 sensor so i replaced both of them got the light cleared only to have it come back on 100 miles later, got it scanned and said the same thing. so i put some MIL Eliminators on it just to see if it would help, got it cleared, 200 miles later it comes back on. what other possibilities could it be?

What were the actual 'P' codes you scanned?

Which catted X pipe? A lot of the ones on the market are not efficient at all and will turn on a light, hence all of them being illegal in CA.

Post the P codes , unless your MIL eliminators are faulty they should keep the codes off

mattlee04gt:

P0430 means the downstream O2 sensor reading to the PCM indicates that the cat converter efficiency is too low (gas is not hot enough). MIL eliminators should fix things right up. Are the MIL eliminators good quality? If they are good quality pieces then you may have no other choice but to get a tune (just a generic performance tune) that turns off the rear O2 sensors to prevent the code from being generated. With the tune, the MIL eliminators will not be required.

Chris

I have a BBK catted x pipe too and am throwing a P0420 code...I just did the DIY MIL elim and a day later the light is back on. In doing a search I came across another DIY write up and they put the resistor on the black wire! Does anyone know for sure which sensor goes on what side? Blue plug driver side, purple pass is how I have it. And gray wire resitor or black? Currently I have the resistor on the gray and capacitor over to black.

I have had the exact same code come up after I installed my BBK offroad mid pipe. I bought a tuner and installed the tunes but the light came back on. I was told that there is a patch for this so I went back to the company that wrote the tune and they sent a patch but when I uploaded the new tune to the car the same code came back. This spring I am going to update my SCT with the patched tunes and try again. I'm hoping that I didn't install the tunes right from my computer to my tuner and that is all my problem is. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed....
