Why do 94-95 start up sound different than FOX's

Ive seen several videos of 94-95 5.0 start up, and My brothers 95 GT vs my 89 5.0 start ups sound really different, foxes start up allot quicker and sound like race cars when started..EX fox er,er,er,vrooom,then idle lopey right away....94-95 start up slower, like the starters are slower and the first rev is longer ex. 95- gt er,er,er,v..v...vrooooooooom, and then the rpm come down slower.
Here video exaples I found on street fire of the start up differences....also I notice 94-95 dont rev as fast a 87-93, why is that..heavier flywheel IDk

Why is it that fox sound better on start ups and on revs, and from what Ive seen a head to head race the fox normally wins..Whats with the start ups, is it 94-95 computers, flywheels, I dont understand why?

Odd, when I put a 95 starter in my 88 the first thing I noticed is how much faster it started.

did you watch the videos, do you know what Im talking about? I can hear a difference and I want to get a 95 gt, but the start up is such a turnoff, I love foxes though, but like 95 styling also.

92 and 93 come with the high torque starters as well as the 94 and 95. Vid of my fox starting up, first part is broken stock starter, second part is a stock replacement from autozone.

I always kinda wondered that, myself, because of the difference in sound when starting the '90 Town Car I had, versus how my '89 notch sounded. The Town Car sounded like a friggin' Powerstroke Diesel when it cranked, but it was just a plain ol' 5.0 and not a 4.6 (which also have a completely different and very distinct starter noise altogether); my notch, however, sounds really generic as far as the starter noise, itself, is concerned.

A physical examination of the starter will tell you that the old style ones were a totally different design in that they didn't have a solenoid mounted directly on the starter, itself. Assuming that the newer starters with the on-board solenoid are the high-torque units, then that would explain a bit as far as cranking sound and initial startup RPM is concerned.

is it possible to switch some parts to make a 95 start up like a 87-92 5.0 fox, because I think its so gay how after it cranks it like it stumble the goes the rpms go up, watch the 94-95 vids and youll see what Im talking about compared to a fox, So is it possible to have a 94-95 start up like a fox?

To me it sounds more like the difference in exhaust setups as opposed to the year car.

get an aluminum flywheel and it wont even go vvr vvr vvrmmmm

I noticed that it starts up way better and I probably get better starter life, now its more like vrooom, it never has a chance to go vvvrrr vvvrrr vvrrooomm, It starts up really fast, unless its extreamly cold outside.

thats a thought, Im thinking mabye the 94-95's have heavier flywheels...I think If I were to get a 94-95 gt I would add a lightweight flywheel, and Hi-TQ starter...

Nope, same flywheel weight is listed for pretty much all 5.0 Foxes and 94-95's.

I would guess (and this is a guess) that it has something to do with the picky computers on the sn's.

yeah i've noticed that too. maybe because they're longer cars so a bit longer exhaust? haha i dunno.... but yeah, i LOVE the way my car starts. sounds soo pretty. i get off a little everytime i hear it.

ugh i said it already, 92-95 have a different starter. They come with a high torque starter, thats why when you put a powermaster or something in, there is no rewiring needed.

That's not the starter...that's the car running like junk. Do a tune up.

I don't hear much of a difference in those clips. The foxes seem to start up a little bit faster, but it could be due to shorter exhaust or the different computer as some have said, or maybe those particular Fox cars are just in better tune than those SN95's.

My car starts up nice and quick and I have to say it sounds pretty nice too. I've been thinking about putting in a new, '92-'95 model starter as preventative maintenance, but I almost hate to change it out in case it doesn't sound as good as the one that's in there now.
