actually they have the Drivers test on tape, my friend is dyslexic and he got to take it on tape and the DMV person wrote his answers for him.
why do car companies condone illegal activities in their commercials?

Geez isnt there enought stuff to complain about, do we really need to whine about racing in commercials.
Whether or not commercials like these are around or not, street racing will not go away. The only way to stop it is to give out bigger fines, take away peoples cars, etc and even then it probably wont.

me and my daddy go out to parking lots in my GT and do burnouts all the time. if a cop pulls me over "Its ok officer, this car was meant for this, just check the ford commercial. look, i even have my daddy with me to keep me safe", or the commercial with the mustang ass sliding all over the city streets.
and about the mercedes racing commercial. you really think a cop would pull over 2 mercedes for streetracing? **** no, they know a ticket/fine and impound would not affect the drivers life whatsoever if he/she has the money for a performance mercedes.
but yeah, if i got pulled over for streetracing, im bringing up every commercial that condones it/contains references to and blame it on them.
hell if parents can get away with their lazyness and crappy job parenting and blame their ****ed up kids on Grand Theft Auto, i can do the same.

You're too serious about the topic. I think the thread was started to discuss the methods used by car companies in their advertising and the irony of showing people haulin' ass and what not to sell cars.
We all know reality and that you are not supposed to see a commercial, go buy the car advertised, and do what you saw on television.
If Remmington were to make a commercial advertising their new 12ga. pump shotgun and in the commercial they started shooting 'people' drive-by style, that would be weird right? *disclaimer - people are not actually real, they are cardboard targets and a professional firearms expert* Illegal activity to advertise their product ...

what? calm down, I'm not saying that I drive a certain way because of advertising. I just think it's weird that car companies choose street racing as a means of showing how fast their cars are, when clearly it is illegal.
and I were to go out and buy a private race track and hire a professional driver to drive my 04 GT with me in it on my private race course then take it in for warrenty work I don't think they could deny me service right?

We all love cars so much...but seem to hate the companies that make them.
Besides, they wouldn't be marketing cars that way if it didn't appeal to a large portion of the american buying public. Yes, I agree, its an ironic way to sell cars, but everyone's driving like that already anyways.

i had a friend who tried that w/ a WRX, he said you guys show commercials of these things flying thru the air and all but if i use the AWD on the street and launch it a few times i lose my warrenty.... and they said yep.
