Ok well last night me and a coworker of mine installed a tach in my car. After we got everything hooked up I took it for a spin. I was cruising up till about 50 and everything was good. Car sounded good, tach was working. No problems. The roads were empty so I got on the throttle. Well the RPMS shot up but I didnt go anywhere. My engine sounded different also. I dont really know how to explain it. What the hell is wrong now? I swear if its not one damn things its another.

Stick shift? = clutch slipping. Or wheel spin.

The need for speed requires more donations in the collection plate.

Auto. The car down shifted like normal, but the way the engine sounded....just didnt sound right for some reason. Everything was going fine whenever I was doing normal accelerating and just driving around and what not. It wasnt until I gave it full throttle that it did this.

It's kicking down a gear when you floor it. It's supposed to do that. Hold it down and when its up to speed it will shift back up again.

Hu? I think you might have misread what I wrote. It downshifts fine. The car just doesnt go anywhere and the engine sounds different than usual. This has never happend before, ever, until after we installed the tach.

With the description, I can't help figure out what is happening. But, I would suggest you disconnect the tach and see if that corrects the problem. If the problem persists with the tach disconnected then you have a new problem. If the problem goes away, I would double check how you installed the tach.

Do you want pictures of the actual tach mounted on the steering column? Or where I ran the wires?

How about both? Or just the tach mounted. I'm trying to get ideas.
