how exactly do you unpin a connector?

so unpinning means removing the male part of the plug?

it looks like cutting would be the eaiest way to get his done. i really hope its shorted out internally

According to the diagram http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/images/Mustang-94-95-CCRM-PCM-Transmission.gif,

yellow
dark blue
lt. green
pink
lt. blue
drk. green/orange
drk. green/yellow (to inertia switch)

The solid yellow wire seems to be wired in parallel and feeds the PCM as well as the ccrm. I would disconnect it just in case, since it could be feeding power to the pcm and the short could be at the pcm but shorting your fuse through the yellow wire.

I don't know if you can remove the connector for each wire on the ccrm plug. I have never tried. Cutting the wire is definately easier.

Here is another thought. Lets assume one of the wires is chaffed and shorted to ground. I think you should unplug the ccrm, then do a continuity test and see if any of the wires have continuity between ground. All of the wires may since they go to the pcm, but maybe one has much less resistance to ground (in ohms) and that would be the first wire I would cut to test. i.e. most have 8-20 ohms but one has 1 or 2. That is the only way I could help you narrow it down further before you start cutting wires.

Hope this helps and good luck. You are saving a lot of money by doing this yourself and being patient.

I am at a loss here.

today i was doing some voltage testing and my freind says plug the fuse in and tell me how long it takes to blow. well i put it in and the fuse doesnt blow. i hear the rails fill with pressure. so i decide to try and start it and it does.

I have no idea what the problem was. i unplugged a few things and had the ccrm out, but i changed nothing. i am comletely clueless but happy. i just hope it doesnt happen again.
