I've noticed everyone talking about the MGW shifter for some time now.

The next mod for my stang is an aftermarket shifter. I was set on the Pro 5.0 Shifter, but everyone says the mgw is better.

So far...

Pro's
-360° adjustability of the shift knob position
-Reduces "In Gear" slop, vibration and buzzing

Con's
-Longer handle
-Company hasn't been around that long

For those who have it please tell me about its pros and cons

Thanks

LOL longer handle?? The handle is short, and they have several handles to choose from (old ones, and new ones, different colors, etc). And you could put a foot long handle on an MGW and the shifts would still be WAY short!

MGW has been around for a few years, and their product is the best on the market HANDS DOWN.

MGW is by far the best IMO. I have one now and will never use a different one, BBK, Hurst, Pro 5.0 and Steeda are the ones I have had in the past. The shifter rests perfectly in my hand and the throws are short and positive. Its a few bucks more but your always using it so might as well get the best

Can't agree more with Benny and Laser! This is BY FAR the best shifter I've had in a car. Not only is it a top notch performer but it looks COOL!!
I always get Porsche/BMW owners asking me what kind of shifter it is!

I've had alot of people test out the MGW shifter in my Mach. It does'nt matter what other shifter they've had, they can't figure out the MGW because the shifts are so short and so tight to one another. All they usually say is "Whoa" .

Great crisp shifts and it's a really well-built piece. The adjustable handle is awesome too. You can angle the shifter towards you and bang third without punching your hand through the radio at the same time

Only other shifter I had b4 the MGW was a Steeda Tri Ax, which I liked alot until I felt the MGW...Now the steeda (which I sold to my buddy) feels like a notchy POS compared to the MGW...I have one in both of my stangs & this is the only shifter I will ever spend my money on....+1 on the excellent customer service too....

Quite a few people that I've talked to have had the Pro 5.0, Steeda Tri-Ax, and other aftermarket shifters and when they try the MGW, they say it's a whole different experience.

My 3 favorite things about it are:

1) It's sturdy as hell. I intentionally tried to break mine and it wouldn't even flex. These things are made of a very high grade metal.
2) Handle variety + ease of adjustment. This also goes along with the 360° rotation.
3) MGW is a private, yet reputable company. Their customer service is amongst the greatest I've had.

That being said, I have no con's about the MGW short-throw shifter.

Also: although the MGW shifter is very short already, you can get a shift knob that is strictly a ball (no shaft) and it will be approx 1.5" shorter. At this height, though, a lot of people cannot reach it.

For all who already have the MGW shifter and are used to its short shift, try this: sit in your passenger seat and shift it with your left hand.
