so i can get one and a regulator and tune the reg. until i hit the perfect a/f ratio on the wideband
With a carb you will have to do more than just adjust a regulator. You will have to try different jet sizes, different accelerator pump sizes....etc. Just like on a fuel injection car you can't just tune using the regulator. It is done by tuning the computer with a custom chip.

Exactly.

With a carb setup a wideband is a good tool just as it is on a EFI setup.

Only diffrence is on a EFI setup (the expensive ones anyway) if you have a wideband hooked up to the computer it pretty much takes the guess work our of tuning the A/F as it can automatically put in fuel take it out, extend pulse width of injectors, etc.

Some of the really nice setups have a wideband 02 on every exhaust port runner so you could get a perfect tune across the board not cheap but nice. :D
