Hey guys, I'm building a AFR 205 headed 363 and I would love to buy a set of Kooks headers but they are just WAAAAY too expensive. So I'm going with the BBK 1 3/4" and I'm just wondering just how much they might be choking up the motor if they're choking it at all. just wondering how much power I might be leaving on the table.

What do the insides of the headers measure? My old bassanis were 1 5/8" but with the weld on the inside they measured closer to 1.450. Measure the primary and the exhaust port. If the header is smaller then the port then obviously its gonna be a restriction. You will also benefit from a 3" exhaust

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

They might not be as cost effective, but look into some Hooker Super Comps. They are about the best you can get without stepping up to kooks IMO.. I've run them and they do really well. Never used BBK, but sure heard bad things from people about them quality wise.

Hope that helps.

I ran 1-3/4" Long Tubes w/ 3" collector on my 347 with AFR 185's. Had a full 3" exhaust system to the tailpipes. Car was extremely quick and made gobs of torque. I'd say with your particular application it'll help.

I definately plan to run 3" exhaust. I was just wondering how much the hp was going to suffer by not running 1 7/8 headers. Hopefully I'll be ok.

Depends on the cam, really. Are you getting a custom for this build? You should be. A good cam grinder will be able to manipulate the exhaust lobe (increase duration, move around the valve events) to get what you want from the combo you have.

If you dont plan on spraying the car the 1 3/4" should be good

Yes, I'm getting a custom cam and yes I plan to spray a shot of nitrous occasionally.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
