Will a 3/8" spacer with a GT-40 intake clear our hoods?

I'm considering a 3/8" spacer for my GT and wonder if it will clear the stock hood or not. Everything looks real close in there as it is now and I'm worried that it would be too tall with the spacer.

Right now I'm using 3 upper to lower gaskets in order for the intake to clear the valve covers. I'm not sure how much room I have to spare. So I'm wondering if anyone has used the 3/8" spacer on their GT-40 intake with success on the stock hood.

Thanks!

I am not TOTALLY sure on the GT-40 intake, but I have the Explorer intake and the front bolt actually bored a perfect hole in the hood insulation. I think the two are very similar as far as dimentions go. It DOES use the GT-40 lower. It has scratched the bottom of the hood, but just barely. I KNOW that if I had the spacer on there - I would be buying a new hood!

If ya want, I can go out and measure how tall it is from the lower manifold to the top of the upper manifold by that bolt that's hitting the insulation. Lemme know!

ya know someone told me about a trick with a ball of aluminum foil to see how far it squishes and measure that so I'll take a peek tomorrow. But thanks!!

Just for reference ... from the bottom of the Upper, to the top of the Upper is: 5 1/2" -- not including the bolt.

Aluminum foil ... good idea!
