will a 5spd tranny from a 96 cobra work in my 01

I think they still had the speedo gear versus the electronic. I dont know a way around that or if they are even compatible. anyone know how I could make it work ?

It will bolt right up and shift fine your speedo will just be useless.

is there no way to correct this? i see trans for sale that claim for a 94-04 and think is is misleading if they dont completely work.

OH it will bolt up and work just fine as far as shifting goes..but if its a t5 from a 94-95 then no it wont work on a 4.6. Without the proper bellhousing. The way to correct the odometer being off...like using a t45 from a 96-98 in a 99 and newer would be to change the tailshaft of the trans where the pickup is for the speedometer.

Another thing to note, is that the cross member mounts in a different position with the Cobra's T45 than it does with the GT's T45, but it can be modified to work regardless.

Does your '01 have a t-45 or t-3650??

neither, it is auto. I am just looking for a swap. the deal I had local fell through so I am looking around again.

I'd look into a TR3650 swap if that's the case. It's a much more stout piece than the T45.
