im pretty sure it will....but its gonna flow so much air into the engine and the heads arent going to be able to do anything with it.

Yeah I know its mainly meant for supercharged cars or cars with a nice set of heads, but I think i can get the lower for $10 and I plan to add heads and or a supercharger later. I just wanted to make sure the ports will line up and what not

Are you talking about the original systemax that uses a stock upper?

personally, i wouldn't buy another systemax intake. they are notorious for sucking a lot of oil into the throttle body. there are ways to slow it, but i know of a few guys (myself included) that have a decent amount of oil sucked through the pcv valve.

yes its an awesome deal, but look around for something else.

just my $0.02

The Systemax has been through a few revisions and many issues have been resolved.

Putting it on a stock motor will slow you down, it is way to much intake for a stock motor. Although if you can pick it up for the prices you stating it would be great to grab and sit to the side till you plan to add heads, etc...

The first version on the Holley had a external EGR passage, the newer models have internal EGR passages...just make sure your upper and lower will match.

i ran faster at the track from going from stock heads stock intake to holley systemax II, it definitely doesn't feel slower either. i'm not saying its the smartest thing to do by itself though, but since i'm putting heads cam etc on in a week it doesnt' matter too much since i will have a complete package of mods.

its not off ebay but is there a way to tell if its a truck lower? What are the differences? I looked at the pictures of the holley and then went and looked at this one and all the fitting holes, etc. look exactly the same?

The Holley has "Holley SysteMAX II" or some variation of that cast right on the intake, near the front runners

Well that could be the EFI intake market under the Weiand brand name, which is owned by Holley. The old Summit ads showed the intakw with no logo, however now the Weiand site has the Holley pic. That intake in the picture has the external EGR passage, you can see the port on the passenger side near the center on the intake under where the fuel rail would be.

The newer intake has the EGR between the 2 center runners like a stock intake has. Holley's website still states external...go figure

That is one of the newer style intakes, it looks like it has both...lol

I can't tell if the old external is not drilled through or not (this is right where the TB goes, the small hole is the bolt hole, the large hole is where the external EGR tube goes)

From your first post rick i thought you were talkin about the opening between the ports (circled on the right). But I see what you mean about its hard to tell if the big hole (circled on the left) is drilled through or not.

I did some research on the lower and even if it is a truck lower its supposed to flow around 220cfm or so. Apparently it was an old trick that guys used to use back when there wernt many if any aftermarket intakes to be had.
I figure if i can get the lower for $10 (well actually all i gotta do is buy the guy a case of beer) and the upper for $180 or so it would be a hell of a deal. Im trying to get a guy off of corral to let me have all the hardware that came with his system max II intake cause he didnt use it. Worse case scenario I guess would be that the lower doesnt flow as well as a real system max lower, which may be a good thing if i put it on a car with stock/mildly ported heads.

Not sure 100% how the EGR is on a stock truck lower, but I can tell you it would cost well over $500 in machine work and porting to get a truck lower to flow 75% of what the Holley does.....

The truck lower need a lot of welding to help the runners, even the old Saleen lower need a fair amount of help, Holley fixed most of the issues that the truck and Saleen lower had....

Even if you have to buy the Holley lower from Holley or a Hollet dealer you'll still come in under a new Systemax intake.
