Will a TKO500 slow my car down?

I'm looking into getting a TKO500 since my factory T-5 is about to take a dump, but am afraid it might actually slow my car down. I've heard tremecs weigh more than the T-5 and eat up more power. Will switching from a stock worn-out T-5 to a TKO500 hurt my performance at all?

I'd guess maybe a tenth but its either that or go G-Force. Having a strong tranny to lose some hp is a good trade-off in my book. Throw a couple stickers on your car to make up the difference.

if im not mistaked, i read in mm&ff (i think) that it would be a 6% hp loss going from a t5 to a tko

You'll only be slower for the first 500 miles...

That's the break in period. After that, you'll be quicker because you can bang away with full throttle shifts and never worry about breaking the trans.

Like everyone said, it will be very minimal if anything, once you start modding more it will all make up for it when your tranny stays in one piece

My car got faster when I put in the TKO500? Well, I did other things but I didn't notice any difference, except how much of a better tranny the TKO500 is over a T-5.

Maybe 1-2 tenths slower. But it will give you the piece of mind that you won't have to be trailered home.
