Just wondering if a Mac CAI will lean out or richen the fuel air mixture? I'm guessing with the bend coming from the filter and from the research I've done it will actually richen.Anyone do any tests on this? Or have any thoughts?

CAI's tend to lean out the mixture slightly because of the extra air introduced. theoretically putting a larger MAF should cancel it out.

Thanks guys!! I orderd the pi headswap kit for it [UPS says it'll be here Tues. Whoo Hoo!!] and I was thinking I would pull off my Mac CAI after the install, put the stocker back on, drive the car for a while, then do a plug check to see how they look. If the plugs are nice and tan, maybe I'll just leave it off. I'm not able to get a tune as the closest place would be about 800 miles [Ya Ya , I live in Canada]Someone had sugested getting a flash but I'd like to wait awhile as the Pi kit has already cost me $1749.53Cdn and I don't even have it installed yet.

let us see here...you are asking if something that is supposed to increase AIR flow will lean a car or richen a car?

and the answer is...LEAN but just a tad...usually if it is your first mod it will lean it out just enough to pick up a few horses.

these cars come from the factory with a very safe rich condition...so leaning it out a tad is no biggie.

well not until around mid 14's across the band I would say.

with N/A, 13.2 : 1 is a very good ratio.

SCT Tune would be the way I would go. Mail order chip will do you fine.

reading plugs is always a good idea. But for the amount of leaning that a CAI would cause, I don't think you would see it on the plugs.

Nope it doesnt work that way.

If you leave the stock maf in place the only thing that will throw the A/F ratio off is a bend that creates turbulence directly infront of the maf therefore fouling the reading by the maf.
