on sept 1st travis and williamson countys will begin 'smog' checking vehicles. does anyone in the area know what impact this will have on modified stangs or any vehicle for that matter? from what i heard, compared to CA it will be virtualy nonexistant. what chaps my ass though is what about the vehicles currently modified? do they expect you to chuck the mods you spent $$$........ on just to pass. thats BS. these vehicles were modded under current law at the time. anyway back to my point, what will we be able to get away with mod-wise? :notnice:

depends on what type of test it is, two speed idle, dyno, readiness code check etc. houston went to dyno test for all pre 96 cars when i was there and it is a tough(or tougher than the idle test) to pass. if it's idle test fugetaboutit.

i believe all they do is insert a sniffer.
if they put the sniffer in and do it on the ground, not on a loaded dyno, i would not worry about a thing. with some minor adjustments you can get a non-catted car to pass that test, provided you don't have an outrageous cam. when i was in houston and did emmisions testing there were several things you can enter into the specs to trick it. ie enter in the vehicle type as heavy duty(which doesn't show on the certificate) and it gives you much looser parameters.
