well...the driver side window went out a few mths ago. i dont have any drop in the volt when i hit the switch, and the switch was getting power when i had it at the trim shop, so im assuming it a bad motor. now for the other problem. tonight the pass window stuck down. i opened and shut the door to kinda jar it and bingo it worked. time for a new motor, or is the wiring just getting tired? cuz if i get one motor i was just thinking about getting two and get it all done.

I just bought 4 motors.. but don't want to put them in yet.. because I have the same problems as u sometimes.. I think some of the track parts wear out.. there is a plastic piece that apparently goes allot.. definitely check your wiring connections to see if they are corroding.. I am currently doing a paint job.. but my next step is to fix the motors... get new weather stripping.... and convertible top... sorry if that's not much of a help... do your windows wiggle around... or are they tight... mine can easily be moved and don't line up right... could strain the motors I'm guessing that's why I don't want to put them in until I know that everything else is repaired!!

havent taken the door panels off yet. i own a trim shop so it isnt to hard to get at, its just my only transpo right now and i dont have space in the shop to fix, but i can make room if i gotta. i just thought it might be wiring. i saw a few posts on bushings and bearings that go out, but i figured it would strain more before it just goes out

If the wiring seems suspect, it tends to fail inside the weatherboot in the door jamb. All the articulation from years of door opening and closing weakens the wiring.
In your case, closing the door could have affected that, or it could be the motor just needed a jarring.

Good luck.

is there a company you can get the wiring from or do you just ahve to splice in your own wiring?

Sorry for the mini hi-jack. I've pulled the door panel off and it looks like there's a plate riveted in place that covers the motor. Do I have to drill out all of those rivets to get at the motor? This is an '88.
