Okay guys for some reason my windshield wipers just turn on sometimes. Sometimes it'll just do it once, then stop, and then soemtimes it will do it a few times and Ill turn the switch on and off. Any pointers here?

Sounds like the switch has developed a "short". I would check into seeing what it takes to replace the switch on the lever. I'm would think it's covered in the Haynes manual.

that's on the "fix later" list on my car, too. I feel like a ****ing tool when it's sunny and hasn't rained for days and all the sudden I'm driving down the road with my windshield wipers running.

Unless you have a '58 Plymouth Fury named Christine. Then I'd dump it altogether.

Actually, I agree with GDawg. Gotta be a short or something fishy with the relay.

Better your windshield wipers then your horn.

In my 99 I had a short in my relay to the horn and it'd go off randomly, and had great luck with it going off in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic.

Well when I got rid of the car, I traded it in for my 2002.

It was funny as hell to watch the salesman get in my car (to test drive it and evaluate it for trade in value) and take a turn down the street and the horn was held on for about a full second...then brake lights.

When he got back I was surprised he never asked me about the horn. Must have thought he was the one who engaged it.

Oh well.

That's a common annoyance with Ford Rangers. The mystery wipers. Cruise the Ford Ranger forums. You'll see that a lot. Basically, the switch is faulty. Replace it when you get a chance.

Right on! My '96 Ranger did that from time to time. Also, the dome light would stay on as well (I pulled the fuse for the dome light)...

I definatily dumped that truck at the right time .
