If you don't have one, get a '67 shop manual. It has good wiring diagrams. Some Mustang specialty shops sell just the wiring diagrams from the the shop manual, but I would get the manula for long term help. I knew next to nothing about wiring before getting the shop manual for my '66 and am now fairly comfortable with it. It just takes some study and time.

The best way to follow wiring diagrams and make sense of them under the hood is to use the color codes that are on the wiring diagrams. Find the wire(s) on the diagram that you are interested in (say the ones going to the solenoid) and see what the numbers are for the wires attaching to it. Then go to the chart (on same page ususally) and see what color corresponds to that wire number. Then go under the hood and find that color of wire and attach it as shown on the diagram. I take it that you haven't re-wired the car, just that you have wires in the engine bay that are unattached right now. Using the color key should help you out a lot.
