My friend told the guy at Best Buy that he neede a wiring harness for a 91 Mustang when in reality my car is a 90...I am trying to put in my Kenwood deck right now and everything works but the speakers...no sound is coming out of them. Could this be because he told them the wrong year which made them give me the wrong harness? I thought it wouldnt make a difference from a 90 to a 91.

EDIT: It is my understanding that they used the same wiring harness up until the late 90's so it should be working...anyone know why my speakers don't work? Everything else works fine...theres a "Mute, P. Cont, and ANT CONT that arent hooked up but I don't need those.

yes the car does have an external amp mounted under the passanger seat, the harness should be the same and consist of two peices the power and speaker, connect everthing to its color code leaving off the power ant, as for the speakers it should be a long rectangular peice which will connect to the corresponding harness in the car, it is sort of a pin style connection just make sure the pins are straight and are going in to the corresponding holes as they tend to bend.

Everything is connected except for a P. CONT, ANT CONT, and Mute...and it is my understanding that P.CONT triggers the powered antannae(ANT CONT) and Mute is for wireless phone calls.

EDIT: The two plugs for power and speakers are exactly the same except for one is black and one is gray. There are no pins...kinda "Blades"

Yes the stock radio was working fine, we switched it back in and it works fine. Is the external amp visible under the passenger seat? All I can find it two wires underneath it thats it...

Yea I found that and it says not to use "Amplifier Turn On," but none of those colors are the same as what I have because I am using a harness so its all different. Atleast thats what my friend told me, ill go take the deck out and see if I can match them up.

you do not have to use the factory amp but you will have to run your own speaker wires. plug in the radio and try connecting the remote wire to a different power source untill it turns on and like i mentioned before make sure the pins are going into there aloted slots and not bunching together. just make sure the power can turn on and off with your car. i nran into the same problem a long time ago and first the remote wire wasnt connected right and then the pins didnt werent going in there right slots and a couple of speakers werent working.

So you're telling me that if i want to put a deck in my car that I will have to run all new speaker wires? The deck turns on and functions fine I just get no sound out of my speakers.

EDIT: Anyone know what P. CONT stands for on the harness? I thought it had to do with the antannae

yes the harness that you are connecting(BLUE ONE) to goes drectly to the amp and end there the wireing then leaves the amp to the speakers, if you cut open the blue harness you will see what i mean it sound obsurd but that what it is.

try conecting the blue remote wire to the red igniton power and see if that works, so youwill have towo wires connected to your igniton power that should work i think thats how i did it like i said its been a while.

My wires are all different colors than the diagram Jr posted, on slot P it says Blue with red stripe but its really green with yellow stripe which isn't even anywhere on that diagram...

The P. Cont is blue, and there are also two other orange lines that I connected together for continous power but I tied the P. Cont in there too and nothing changed...

I think i'm just gonna return the deck and **** this...way too much work for something that only plays CD's.

 i dont blame you but dont give up, try going to the back of best but where they install have your radio ready to pull out and ask for some help see what happens you might find a good guy, if not im pm-ing you my phone number im leaving work and have to go to church in the morning give me a call around 2:00 or so and ill pull my radio out and we can go through it together i to bought my harness from best buy. good luck:nice:

My friend is coming over tomorrow to run speaker wires, I have work at 2:30 till 10...i'm pissed im missing the Pats game but whatever. I'll let you know how it turns out.

EDIT: That's not the harness I have. And while talking with my friend he mentioned that he went to Circuit City not Best Buy...

Guys, I think we might be missing something, I believe the problem is that the harness is incorrectly wired. The blue wire on the car side of the harness needs to be attached to the blue/white from the radio side of the harness. I believe this isn't the case in his current wiring, therefore the amplifier is getting no power. (blue wires in common stereo wires is the power antenae)
