i keep seein people buying new daily drivers. i have some circumstances that require me to unload my DD to help out my co-signer at the time i bought the car. im looking for a car around 20k, maybe a little less.

i almost bought an 04 cobra a couple weekends ago. i snapped myself back into reality and i need a true commuter/NICE car to drive. i am very close to pulling the trigger on an 05-07 acura TL.

i test drove one with an automatic. it has paddle shifter option also, so its the best of both worlds. 270 hp, 20/29 mpg rated, and with honda it will do better. really nice interior/navigation factory, ect.

anyone have one of these? any complaints? im putting it here cause ill lose track of it over in the bs forum. ill keep on the thread if its here.

Acura TL Type S are bad@ss cars, I wouldn't hesitate to have 1 for a DD. The latest bodystyle are pretty ugly IMO. The previous generation TSX are also great looking cars too.

IDK if you are strictly looking for something newer, but IMO, if you want a nice car thats comfortable, has decent power, decent gas mileage, is pretty cheap, & has a bulletproof drivetrain, I would look at a 92-97 Lexus LS 400. Those cars are known for going 300k+ miles with little to no signifigant issues as long as they have regular maintenance.... I regularly see them going from $2,500-$8,000 depending on condition & mileage... I will be looking to pick 1 up for a dd eventually...

i'm not getting a type s. however, they look pretty similar to me exterior wise.

for 20k (well 18k for one im eyeing) i don't see anything comparible across the board. mileage, decent looks, longevity, value, comfort.

i've not uncovered a ton of feedback yet. mainly been searching for a good price on one thus far.

The regular TL's are nice too. IDK what you think about older Lexus's but they are the best value in their price range IMO...

epik, i am looking for something new. like 05 and up atleast.

i have also been doing insurance quotes, i am 22 so its hit or miss per car. i can insure one for pretty reasonable, about $80 a month for full coverage. compared to $150 for some other comparible stuff.

i test drove one briefly, i was really close minded to the automatic. so i just took it out to feel the ride, ect. then he showed me the paddle shifters and i was like

I can not stand the new TL. They completely ruined those cars. The previous body style is really sweet looking though. I'd be proud to drive one.

But, alas, i drive a Festiva. Horaaay for me

F##k yeah, those are bad@$$!!! I was considering trading the Mach in on 1, but changed my mind. They have an 400 hp LS6, 6 speed, & get 16-25 mpg, plus they have the comfort of a caddy.

That's the CTS-V, the CTS has a smaller engine and only comes in auto. My Dad has an 04. I don't really like the interior looks, but it's still a nice car. My Stepmom has an 04 SRX that gets a big ol' It's huge, it's ugly, it's not an SUV or a wagon. It's a crossover, I've never seen a crossover I liked.

My Mom has a 08 (I think) TL that's really nice. I like the whole car. She puts a ton of mileage on it taking my grandparents to doctor appointments here in Portland from Corvallis (about 120 miles one way), and has never had a problem. I've also never heard her say anything bad about gas mileage so she must like how it does pump to pump. As you can tell, I don't really talk cars with my Mom LOL.

But my $.02, I vote for an SVT Contour, small, fast, manual trans, good mileage if you can keep your toes off the loud stick. I have a friend who has one and he always does the "look back and smile", kinda like I do with my stangs.

My DD is an 04 Ranger 4x4 extended cab. It's got the 4.0L V6 and auto trans. I just like having a truck for my DD since I'm remodeling my house and do a lot of towing, either my jet ski or quad trailers. With a class 3 hitch it has a towing capacity of 7500lbs so it should be able to handle ski boats without issue also. And since I don't hot rod it like I do my 5.0's it gets about 27 mpg.

im going tomorrow after work to check out this TL for 18k with low miles.

im looking to keep car payment/insurance to a minimum. that cts-v thing looks to be higher on both ends. the TL i drove was pretty peppy and i didn't even hit the vtak

thanks for the positive feedback. i pretty much figured anything honda/acura is safe.

Don't get an early 2000's TL. They are well known for trans problems with the early 2000-2003 TL/CL's. I have friends who have put 2 or 3 trans in their car before ditching it. The cars were notorious for this.

The 2004 and newer ones are better. I drove a few of them when i was shopping for a DD. Seemed fairly reliable, with maintainence costs on par with other japanese makes. ($50 for a Honda part, $100 for Acura).

The ONLY reason I ended up wiping it off my list was because it was FWD. (I hate driving FWD cars) The new ones do come with SH-AWD so i may look at them when comes time for a new DD. Also looked at a Caddy CTS4 with rear-biased AWD and 300HP

I have always been a fan of the TLs and strongly considered one when I bought my Audi a few years back. I wasn't going to buy an auto, so that was the main reason I never got one. They come stick, but seems very very rare.

Acuras are great cars. Can't really go wrong.

Isn't it weird that the new body style of Mustang is 5 years old? I'm just now getting used to them.

Well, some people know, but Ive worked for acura since 06. My last day is actually on wednesday... why you ask? Theres no freaking work. These cars really dont break. 99-03 Tl's have tranny problems ( I just put a tranny in my 00TL... nice working for acura when you drive one, didnt have to pay much)

04 and up tl's are bulletproof. Couple minor recalls are out, but those will be free regardless of age/ miliage if they havent been done already. I wouldnt hesitate for a minute to buy one. I will probably stick with acura for my DD from now on.

If you have any questions at all about any acura, feel free to pm me. I know the cars like the back of my hand.
