Won't crank

1989 5.0, car started fine this morning and this afternoon to pick up my daughters from camp. Went to go pick up my girls from their mom lights come on on the dash but no crank. Had to start the car from the solenoid.

I would say ignition switch or solenoid with info you've provided.

It started fine this morning, and this afternoon, I get in the car 15 minutes ago, lights come on the cluster, my fuel pump comes on, turn the key over no crank don't hear a click from the starter, started it from the solenoid like I mentioned but it sparked more than what I'm used to seeing.

Have you ever rep!aced the ignition switch on the column?
Take a look at it ,its probably coming loose and that's a common issue with our cars.
Quick fix is a zip tie,till you can change it out.

Bad starter solenoid, possible ignition switch issue, and/or a failing starter.

Have the battery tested... Are the battery cables original? Replace...... Clean battery and ground connections..
