wont fire up

i have a 1971 mach one 302 dropped in my fox body. i rewired the entire car for drag. the problem is that the motor will not fire , any suggestions

How about a little more info.

spark?
gas?
does it crank?
whats the ignition system?

does have spark, it cranks, brand new fuel system, and msd 6a ignition, blaster 3 coil, ford racing distributer

If it turns over and has spark, the problem is either in the fuel mix or the timing.

i adjusted the timing and it seems to get closer but it is backfiring through the carb, should i keep adjusting the timing,

IF you have a 70's 302 your firing order is 15426378, check it the newer cars are different.

if that isn't the problem it's time to start from scratch with the timing.

do you know how to find TDC on the compression stroke? start there if you do , if not let us knowo and we'll talk you threw it
