Hey I am new to this forum and I have done some searching before posting... I have a 73 Mach 1 orig. 302. Just replaced the starter solenoid and we still can't get the motor to turn over, you can jump the posts on the solenoid and it will try to kick over. getting spark to the distrib. We can't figure out what the problem is. any help will be greatly appreciated.

1) Is battery fully charged?
2) What happens when you turn the key?

yes the batt is charged and when you turn the key the solenoid "clicks" but thats it it doesn't do anything else.

Check your grounds, i had a similar problem and found that the neg battery cable was not grounded properly.

had it grounded to the body and the block still nothing.

Also, the ground at the block.

battery or ground

have you tried jumping it from another car? That clicking sound really makes it sound like a battery, ground or the starter relay.

Just becasue your battery reads 12v dosent mean that it has the amps to cranks the motor. If it a couple years old you should take it to a place where they can test the cranking amps to make sure it is ok. A friend of mine had same problem, we replaced starter, solenoid, batter calbes because the battery was reading
12vs. We took the battery in and it had only a 1/4 of the cranking amps it should have.
