Would changing oil hurt?

You might clean up some seals and reveal some leaks. Otherwise, you very well could be fine.

Good luck.

I thought it was the other way around. Changing to synthetics reveals leaks? What do you mean "clean up some seals"?

Oh poop. You're right-on; I misread your post.

Switching to dino oil should present no issues I can think of (I've gone both ways with oil, and sometimes go back and forth).

The seal cleaning would have been if you had run dino for 100-120K and now were going to switch to synthetic (the detergents in synthetic might have cleaned some poop out of the seals).

Apologies for my misread. :bang:

No worries! :nice: Im losing a quart a week! Not burning it, it has minor leakage at the back of the pan but nothing major. My lower intake was never retorque after my T-Moss addition and have a feeling its getting out somewhere through the passages in the heads.

a quart a week is not major leakage?

dude, you need to get that fixed.

i switched to syntheic after 100K(i didnt actually know it was synthetic, it's the special high mileage stuff...i bought it thinking it would help) and now the rear main leaks like a sive! it sucks because it ruined my new clutch and i need to spend another weekend and more money replacing that stuff, not to mention i work every day till 5-7 and only have sundays off..

WOW! I remember when you started posting here and your car had like 16,000 miles on it or something like that. Your car is a warrior!

If you're not burning or leaking any oil (other than the intake), I wouldn't see the need to go back to dino oil, although it wouldn't hurt. The intake leak obviously needs some attention. I would recommend getting an inspection mirror and checking that out.

Actually it was 19,000 :D Yeah I drove 124 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. Runs like a charm though!

bummer, you probably could have bougth a honda gas saver for the price of a year's gas 124 miles a day..

Its pretty good on the highway. And thats all it was, highway driving.Stock it would get 24-25 MPG. After gears and stall converter it gets 20-21. Only had to deal with 1 traffic lite. Yeah it hurts a little just because of resale value I lost putting all that mileage on it but at the time I was looking for a beater DD and this crossed my path so I couldnt pass it up.
