Have a chance to get a CHP 347 for the same price as my 306? Would I be stupid not to?

I see no reason to stay with only 306 cubic inchs. The more the better. What heads/cam do you have now? You may need some btter flowing heads to get the "most" out of the 347 power wise.

Gas Mileage? Maybe you should look into a Kia. Who buys a Mustang for fuel economy.

but anyways i dont see why not...if youve done your research and feel as though you can trust the company with your money then i say go for it!

The 347 would work better with heads and cam suited to it and not a 306.

This might mean different parts and its somthing for you to consider.

If it is in good tune the milage won't be that much different at say highway driving cause the pcm will work to give you the best milage.

YEAH! Vib sucks...(sike)! Calm down dude. Why would you put a high performance motor into your daily driver and wonder about fuel economy in the first place?

Anyway, just to be different I will say no on for several reasons. First is the additional cost involved with buying new heads/cam blah blah. Second, I am a fan of small cubic inch power, now by no means is 347 "large" but I like small 302/306/308 combinations. If you ever plan on drag racing the car, you can compete in a bunch of really competitive classes that limit the cubic inches to under 310. I say keep the 306.

I second that notion... your are never here to help anyone out. You only critize peoples questions they ask and hardly ever help out. How did ya get the moderator position anyways?

j/k man... but seriously I'm with Vib... If your going to get betting a high performance engine, then you shouldnt be worrying about the gas mileage. Its just the price you're going to have to pay for the extra power.

You need to post the details of both engines! That's a good start!!

Forged internals (crank, rods, pistons), balanced and blueprinted, type of block used, heads/cam/intake?????

For many reasons but ones like FFW and NMRA class requirements, small displacement suits my intentions for now so I went with the stronger set up 306 (more forged parts). Later when all out racing is the only thing the car will do, I'll opt for displacement.

Thanks for all the replies. By the way, the guys over on Hardcore Mustangs saved me $250 on my order through CHP.

There's no real reason that excellent performance can't be had along with reasonably good fuel economy. I'm sure that there are plenty of really fast cars out there that get over 20mpg.

Didn't the new Z06 get like 30mpg on the highway on a bunch of long term tests? You talk about performance and gas mileage!
