Would switching to a heavier oil help against blow-by?

I am running 10w-30 right now, and I think I am getting blowby. What oil should I switch to to fix this? Weather isnt a problem as I live in Florida.

You could try running 20W50 for a while, but thats a bandaid fix at best. How bad is it? Does it consistently blow bluish-grey smoke out the back under all driving conditions?

I have also seen Lucas oil Stabilizer do some amazing things. Thats something else you can try.

I agree with 1TMF (again - I say that often. ).

I'd try 10-40 next and if it doesnt help, you will be out of the coldest of months (I'm not sure what Fl's climate is like. In AZ, we still get lows below freezing at times. Our high yesterday was 44* and it snowed just outside of town. ).

Good luck.

Hahah yeah that doesnt happen around here. I just got done wakeboarding today and I didnt have a wet suit or anything. As for how bad blow by is, not bad at all. I just get oil in my intake and everyone seems to think its a blow by issue. I think it could be a PCV thing but I dont know what to check.

Hissin, do you have a AIM screenname?

It normally doesnt here either. The day before the 44* and snow, it was 75 and nice out. It sounds really mild in surfland - 1TMF's 20-50 would work.

I'm still chiseling notes to myself on the wall of my cave - no AIM, IM, etc here. I try to turn around PM's pretty fast though.

hey will long time no talk how is the project truck coming along??

as for the blowby..... try the heavier stuff if it bothers you... i like lucas oil stabiler that stuff rocks if you can get your hands on it... just replace one quart of oil with a quart of that stuff.
