wow! kidney stones hurt!

I passe 6 of them about 2 years ago. 2 decent sized ones and several really small ones. My back started hurting at work and it got bad enough that I went home. On the way home I decided to head for the emergency room. Spent several hours there the only thing that made it feel any better was standing up.

They gave prescription for vicodin and told me to drink a lot of water. Had to piss through the strainer for a couple of day and it eventually passed.

Since then I usually drink between a 1 gallon and 1 1/2 gallons of water a day at least.

Kidney stones suck azz.

Hope you get to feelin better soon.

Jeez...I am sorry to hear that...but you still got it better than me.......off and on for the past 4 months I was pissing blood drops and it burned like a muther...I thought I had aids......then I got a CT scan and they found a infection in my lower colon....I just had surgery and had a 11 inch piece on my colon removed....I feel better now.......the worst part was having this fat tube...larger than a mcdonalds straw inserted in my "BALD OLD MAN"......also not eating for a week was bad too......also pissing a quart every 25 minutes was annoying.....I can go on on and....but glad you recooperating.

It is the sweetner in drinks and foods that cause the stones to build up because the body has problems breaking down the artificial sweetners. The laser you guys are thinking of doesnt go "in" your pisshole. They use a ultrasound kind of laser that uses waves to break up the stone and then you can pass it because it is smaller. Just try and avoid artifical sweetners and sweet tea. It feels like you are pissing out razor blades or a baseball with talons these suck....we have people come into surgery that cant pass the stone i feel bad for them.

Stones SUCK! I've had 2 so far. The last one was the absolute worst. It was too big to pass and too small to laser so...
- They put me under anesthetic
- They inserted a tube up "you know what" to collect the stone that was trapped between my kidney and my bladder.
- They removed the stone
- They inserted a "stent" between by bladder and kidney to prevent inflamation
- I woke up

That stent was worse than the stone itself! It was in for about a week. Every time I took a piss, it felt like someone was punching me in the kidneys. A couple times I almost fell over while pissing because of the pain. Lortabs barely did anything.

I've broken bones and received 2nd degree burns, but neither of those compared to that experience.

I hear ya, I've never had kidney stones but I did damage my ureathra one time. Not sure if it was from riding bikes or what but the scar tissue that formed ended up blocking 99% of my ureathra. It took 5 years and me becoming anemic before they finally figured out why I was pissing blood. Two surguries and one man-gina later Im all fixed. They had to filet that little area of skin between my butthole and my giggle berries and cut out the scarred part of my ureathra and sew it back together. 25 stitches later my man-gina's all healed up now. The worst pain ive ever felt in my life was having a ureatragram done with a cathader already in my peehole. One tube is bad enough but two tubes and then shooting fluid the wrong way up the pee hole will even make the hoff think twice about ever riding a bicycle again

im 22 and never have gotten one... i dont have the best diet and i drink alot of soda (diet) and sweetend tea... eat out maybe 4 times a week maybe more maybe less... and i never drink WATER! unless im really active... but after reading all this i might start drinking some water now!

I've been an avid junkie of Mountain Dew for probably a decade, now, but maybe the ingredients in there tend to cancel themselves out; I mean, soda causes the stones, but orange juice is supposed to prevent the formation of stones, and right there on the ingredients label is "orange juice," sooooo... :)

If I ever get a kidney stone, I'll probably go stark raving mad. I've NEVER had a problem peeing, and not being able to perform the most basic of bodily functions would simply drive me insane, even if only for a temporary time.
