Yep i'll start to check it out... Now I filled it up in oil... so i'll try to count that... My car is runnin very sluggish now and i have no idea why.. she's stored 8 months / year, only 80k miles... never saw any winter.. .and the the dude that had it before was an oldie... and my gas mileage is very bad and i get check engine very often... something's wrong for sure :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono: :nonono:     :bang: :bang: :bang:

um, do you have a paperclip lying around? that is all you need. if you dont want to watch the CEL, Chris has posted links for a code reader that stores the codes for you - 32 bucks. that would get you about 5 mins at Ford. :)

good luck.

With it being parked that much I would think the valve seals dried up and cracked? I know that is a mopar problem (older engines) is that also a 5.0 problem?

Chris

No idea... never heard that.

i run 20w50 cause my car burns quite a bit, i'm nearing time for an oil change, and i've got more n it, than when i used 10w30.

noted, ill get 20w50 next time... now ill keep an eye on the oil level.

a guy that works at an oil changing place told me about that, he's on stangnet too. when i used 10w30 i would burn over a quart between changes (3000 miles) and i havent had to add any yet with this stuff, and i needa change my oil pretty soon.

*shrug*

If you aren't leaking profusely somewhere, your car is burning massive amounts of oil.

The fact that it is also running like **** suggest that you may in fact have a worn out engine.

Maybe someone along the line owned it and beat the hell out of it? Maybe someone didn't change the oil for 25K miles? Or ran it close to dry for too long?

Point is, your car is burning too much oil to just be the valves. How much smoke do you get from your exhaust?

Sorry for the advice.....?

Just for comparison, my 5.0L has 85K miles on it. It's a 95 also. I spray a 125 shot of nitrous on it and beat the hell out of it in general. I'm not even down half a quart between oil changes, and my rear main seal leaks.
