i was driving to the parking lot today and i had the car in 3rd cruising at around 35 mph's and i was bored so i jammed the car into second and floored it, after i jammed it back up to third the car just started climbing revs like crazy it went past 7000 at least...i was *****ing my pants.... so i put it in neutal and it was still reving....finally ther rpms dropped down as i coasted into the parking lot, i put the car back into 2nd no problem....what happened??? could the throttle body have been stuck open....i know it was not the clutch because i had the car out of gear with my foot off the gas and it was still reving, plus when i got out there was no clutch smell at all, and the clutch operated fine after the rev's went down and i put it in gear again....any guesses as to what the F**K happened will be aprreciated

could be the throttle body just stuck mine would do that, took some throttlebody/intake cleaner and cleaned out all the carbon out of it, then cleaned up the iac and car ran great after that

im with Slo - check the throttle cable and butterfly. i would guess the butterfly got wedged at WOT. one can disconnect the throttle linkage to test the butterfly vs cable itself.

good luck.

huh. might want to recheck that. all EEC-IV motors have a rev limiter which cuts fuel to different cylinders in the firing order.
