I see that you have the bassani o/r X-Pipe, how much hp would it gain on a 97 GT?? I'm thinking on getting it.

you'll get 4hp and lose 1lb of torque with the x-pipe alone.

that's what the dyno told me on a nearly stock 99gt except for pullys, magnaflow catback, & the worthless diablo predator -- several suspension mods & different gears though.

I thought that by getting rid of 2 of the cats it would free up more HP. Is it safe to say the cats in the x-pipe are still restrictive as the stock cats even though they are hi-flow??? So the X is more for sound the HP gains.??

the highflow cats are still more restrictive then no cats but in everything i have read they make close to no cats if u factor in the pollution aspect. i run a off road h-pipe. more torque less HP then the x-pipe

It all depends, I would bet on no more than 10 horsepower, but probably a little less. The sound is what I wanted the most.

Dont know about the horsepower gains, but even if it was 0 gain, the sound alone is well worth it.

Saleen and Roush use the Magnaflow X pipe and cat back

I don't think you will get more than 8 RWHP out of a catted x pipe.

I don't have the numbers but can you that after I did the headswap I added the MagnaFlow catted X and cat-back at the same time. There was a noticible difference especially in the upper rpms and 4th gear. I'd guess it had to be 15rwhp or more. Don't forget I had the factory 6 cat h-pipe.

the offroad pipe makes you lose low-end power because there is too much surface area for the gasses to flow over so they cool as they leave your system, thus causing some gas pressure buildup. The bassani catted aluminized X is a good route because you pass emissions, get the good sound, plus 10-15 hp over the stock H pipe. I got mine for $375, and i think the magnaflow O/R X pipe was almost the same price. Its all preference tho

What are the gains with a Magnaflow X-pipe on a 96GT?

probably the same as on every mustang... 10-15 hp on a stock GT, but the sound improvements are what really make it worthwhile

Gained about 6 inches on my 1-2 shift patch with the OR X.

Thats with the 275 Kumhos, probably would have been more on those rock pizza cutters of stock meats though.

Noticeable improvement, not sure I would count anywhere near 20rwhp with a catted x, even with the catback though.
