I know this has probably been asked before, but I am looking for new opinions. I really want to get a mid-pipe for the GT. I already have the Magnaflow catback. I'm pretty much set on the Magnaflow x-pipe w/ cats, but I would like some opinions.

I like the idea that the Magnaflow x-pipe is stainless steel and has the Magnaflow quality. Plus I have read that it get great gains.

What about a catted MAC Pro-Chamber? I am not a fan of MAC exhaust products, being aluminized steel and the fit/finish, but I hear that it sounds awesome. I don't know of any gains.

Or, last option, a standard H-pipe w/ cats? Would it be worth it to swap out the stock h-pipe w/ 6 cats for another h-pipe w/ 2 cats?

I appreciate any input/suggestions.

go with the magnaflow X. unless you must have cats, i'd go off-road X bc the magnaflow cat-back is one of the more "not-so-loud" systems.

i just got my new slp true x by ups for christmas yesterday...i will be on the car tuesday..looks good- stainless steel, solid and thicker than i thought it would be( in a good way).
ive got welded in super 40's and the common wisdom says thats not good with an x pipe. but its a true x and its said that it may work. plus check all the mags-most people seem to be running x's with everything. i also like the fact that its modular and if the flows sound like crap i just get an slp II catback.

imo personally i think that an X-pipe and flows dont go very good i would prefer a straight thru muffler for an X and chambered for the H-pipe

What do you mean? I'm just looking for a nice, strong, clean sound. Nothing obnoxious, just a sweet sound.

The Mac o/r H pipes they make now are coated and don't rust like the old ones did. They fit just fine. The only exception is on the '04 you have to extend the front driver o2 sensor a little bit.

I hate it when people slam Mac exhaust products. I bet easily 50% of Mustang enthusiasts in the US are running some form of Mac exhaust.

What do you think about your Magnapack cat back? My friend has a 03 cobra and is debating between either magnaflow, magnapacks or MAC cat back. Also, i recommended to him a high flow h-pipe. I heard Prochambers o/r, and they sound real quiet....i can only imagine how quiet the high-flo prochamber sounds...any inputs?

By the was, i found out that massive long tube headers with matching o/r h-pipe quiets down the exhaust note tremendously!

I have been running a Slp x for some time, I was thinking about going to a full MAC set-up. LT headers, ProChamber, and there cat-back. Although the borla/slp x doesnt sound bad theres a point in the rpm where it has a weird sound and i'm thinking of trying something different now.

i just updated my signature. i actually took off the o/r x-pipe (BASSANI) b/c i could not deal with that bumble bee sound in deceleration. I put on a o/r H-pipe MAC and it sound a lot better...and quieter I just switched to the LTs with O/R h...all ceramic coated BBK. The h-pipe looks like 3" and the headers are huge. A big power and sound difference....it got A LOT quieter..damn I still like the power, and it still sounds clean.

The X did scream at high rpms and did produce more SOTP difference in HP than the o/r h-pipe.

i love my magnapack catback, but im kinda tied with the borla stingers. My bro had them on his Mach and it sounded absolutely awesome. soo deep and loud. i say either Borla stinger or Magnapack catback....
the magnapacks are pretty quiet at idle tho.. a lot deeper than stock but about the same volume.

i have had a bassani x-pipe and a pro chamber on my car. hp is almost identical but torque is better with the pro chamber. i kept the pro chamber. it sounds better imo than an x-pipe

I don't mean for you to take what I said the wrong way, but living in Colorado, the elements really tear up an exhaust system (yes, I actually drive my mustang in the snow). I had Flowmasters on my 98 for 4 years and the mufflers rusted completely through making 2 quarter-sized holes, one in each of the mufflers. For my 02 I am buying for quality and durability. I know MAC now has that new coating, but I still won't buy MAC until it is made out of stainless steel.
