Xpipe or OR/H

Pypes, VRS, MAC and Dr. Gas are the only true x pipes out there. Magnaflow, BBK and Bassani aren't real x pipes in my opinion.

Long tubes with a tru x pipe and MAC sounds like purrrre sex.

Dr. Gas X pipe > all other mid pipes of any style/brand including other X pipes.

Ive had 3 different x-pipes, BBK, flowtech, and bassani.

The flowtech was the cheapest and had the cleanest tone to it, the flanges were cheap, but if you dont over torque them they will last. I'd buy one again.

The BBK was junk, the thin wall tubing caused a nasty "wrapping" sound between 2500-3000 rpms under a load. Free revving wouldnt make the noise, I wouldnt buy another one.

The bassani is by far the best quality of the three. better sound than the BBK, almost equal to the flowtech, the stainless is great quality and i'd buy another one any day. Both of the ones i bought were used and in excellent condition. I woulndt ever buy a brand new one based on the price though

I agree with your comment on the BBK unit, I purchased a BBK off road X last year, put it on and was kinda taken by the sound it produced. It makes my car sound funny to me, like a tin can under me.... yet I have had more comments on its current sound than when I had the MAC off road H pipe.

It is a haunting, gnarly mean sound at 1500 RPM cruising though...that I do like.

I'm definitely not putting down Bassanni or any other company...and for all i know their design probably works just as well, i've just noticed a difference in sound between those and the X style that Dr. Gas and others use. I've noticed it a lot more on modular engines especially. I think they really sound more like a Pro Chamber than anything else. Either way i figure if what Dr. Gas uses is good enough for 800hp NASCAR engines that run WOT all day long, then they're good enough for my Mustang lol.

The one down side i will say is, some of the Dr. Gas stuff comes in pieces and is nowhere near as installation friendly as those other companies. The one i have came in a box in 7 pieces and had to be fit and welded together, but again this one was bought back when no other company even advertised an X pipe for a Mustang so it was the only option. It's about 12 or so years old and is still running strong.

Wifes car has the magnaflow catted x, i like the sound of it but its on a mod car so it really dont apply here.

mine still has the old off road H, as soon as i get the extra cash and some other things taken care of its getting a magnaflow catted midpipe, not sure if ill get the X or H though.

As far as power is concerned I really doubt on a stock header/head app there would be much difference except the sound. I got a Summit OR H, it is alright for the money and I'll replace it with a Dr Gas X when I do headers and such.

I have a summit racing H pipe and I love the way it sounds. A year after installing it and it still looks like new.
