My Brand New 2015 Mustang Gt - Transmission And Body Issues

To get the paint issues sorted take it back and tell them to have it done right. Warranty work doesn't pay for crap(flat-rate) so that painter just brushed the edge n kicked it back to the dealer. I'll be super picky with my next car.

As it is a brand new car, the only option available is to take it back for warranty repairs. The trans shift issue can be verified by comparing it to other new cars in inventory. If other new cars do not exhibit the same shifting concerns, then it would be pretty much a confirmation that your trans has a legitimate concern and should be repaired/replaced under warranty. If at any time you do not feel that the Ford dealership is handling the concern in an acceptable manner, you can always get Ford Customer Care involved with the process.
Edit:
As far as the fuel economy issue while the dealership had your car. It is quite possible to have the average fuel economy numbers really go down just by extended idling. Only 10 min. of idling will have a significant impact on what the fuel economy computer is averaging out. So you really cannot use it as a claim that the car was "hot rodded" around. You would have had to have a Go-Pro or some other device aboard to provide documentation or proof that the car was driven in a way that caused the decrease in overall fuel economy and/or was shifted in a way that caused your transmission concern.
Very good points. The other new cars on the lot certainly shift a lot better than my car does now in 4th gear. If Ford sold cars that shift like my car does in 4th gear, they would go out of business. Its quite bad sometimes, and I'm sure it's on the verge of going completely.

I think in the future I will invest in a Go-pro or another device when I leave it at dealers :) Because now I have a brand new car that has been badly damaged. They further damaged the paint and destroyed the transmission and I'm sure Ford only wants it to be rebuilt, rather than replaced with a brand new transmission. If I could leave it on the dealers lot forever I would; especially since I'm looking at paying ~$600 a month for 6 years on this car!

I just wanted a brand new Mustang that looks and drives brand new. Something to look forward to, maybe my next mustang :)

I'd press the issue for a new one. My brother had a standard fusion when they first came out and blew the trans 3 times. Ended up having to use the lemon law. I know its a lot different but just a thought.

That sucks. You are not alone, I had mine 2 weeks and some 81/yo hit it. Going to the paint shop tomorrow for repairs. Difference is, I know the painter there so it will be done right. Sucks about the transmission. I would talk to your salesman about it. Tell him what happened and bring it up the chain until you are satisfied. The salesman has a vested interest; you bought a car from them once, so if they treat you right and take care of this, you will go back to them in the future, right? I know I would. If that doesn't work, take it up directly with Ford. Tell them what the dealership is doing to you and they will likely have you take it to a different dealership for an evaluation and possibly repairs.

@15Mustang If you have continued unresolved issues with your car or your dealership you can always contact @FordCustSrvc here on Stangnet. Deysha has been great to all of the members here with her guidance in some of these type of issues.

Best of luck
Thank you for the support, 84Ttop! I’m already working with @15Mustang. He’s on a few other forums as well.

Check the tread thickness with a tread depth tool and see how much rubber your possibly missing. If you have 5/32 then you know they were up to no good. If the tire is suppose to be 13/32nds new and your at 10/32nds then you know 200 miles isnt 3/32 wear.

Good idea. Next time I need tread depth measurement and a camera :) Especially since my rear tires are $300+ a piece.

They "should" and I think will fix the problem under warranty. Sometimes they(dealerships) can just be a pita to get things accomplished. If it is a defect from the factory and not something they determined was done by the owner, you'll be fine. If you had some "tech" in the garage who decided to "test drive" your car and broke it...?? You might have more of an issue. Still should be covered but they might be hard to deal with. It's rare that it gets to the point of a legal recourse but it can happen.

I spoke to the GM Friday and they didn't offer much help. I know this can be resolved if Ford would like to help me ;)

All the new cars have logs built into the computer. It logs all the inputs for the last few thousand inputs, such as throttle position, brakes, speed and steering. Demand that they download all the information from the computer. If you haven't driven it too much, they should be able to retrieve the inputs for the time period the car was in for repair. You can see then how it was driven.

I know this can be done, because we do it in my profession to gather information from accident crashes.

Goodluck!

Good points. This did occur to me afterwards. What I should have done is driven the car home and parked it in my garage until I could get data analysis and have a mechanic diagnose the transmission problem. Unfortunately being a brand new Mustang GT I couldn't resist driving it more :D

I normally hate how your new car can spy and tattle on you, but if the info is still there, score one for big brother.
Ford should fix this anyway. You may need a second dealership.

I concur w all of the above. I'd go to a different dealership and I'd simply walk in and say, "hey my transmission's messed up. "Would yall look at it and shouldnt it be under warranty?" I wouldn't mention anything about the other dealership and what they might have done until say after they look at it and say no the warranty won't cover it due to abuse or whatever. Best case scenario they look at it and fix it for free w out question. And I suppose worse case would be the fore mentioned "we can fix it but not for free because you tore it up." Only if it came to that would I mention the other dealership. You don't wanna go in on the offensive right away w the new guys.

Just for :poo:s and giggles and against my better judgment, I read the post by someone I have blocked. All I can say is if you walk into a dealer and play dumb and say " hey my transmission is messed up can you fix it" and not mention the rest of the story, what happens when they pull up all of your service records and see all the notes in the system from the other dealer. Then YOU look like the ass, not them.

Your best bet is to contact the Ford Customer service rep that posts here or the DSM. Honesty has always worked for me.

Nah just go to them and say hey it's F'd up look at it. And who cares if you look like an ass after they look at the record!? Say yeah they wouldn't look at it so now I'm bringing it to yall. And how would that even make you look like an ass? It wouldn't be playing dumb as the blockster put it. I'm just saying you'd get better customer service if you didn't go in w an axe to grind. Just say hey it's not working right and go from there. Speaking of customer service: Go to another dealer first and speak to a human face to face. Start you're internet campaign when and if the other dealership gives you the run around.
If you live in a smaller city w only one ford house then it'd be a hassle but if there was another to choose from I'd have been over there and talking w them (politely) before I'd have thought to seek help via enthusiast forum. Wouldnt seeking out another dealership if one was available, be the first thing to come to mind or is that too logical? I dunno guess it's just me but I'd rather talk to a human than read an email.
Oh and Mike, remember, it's fmu + tune, not either or. ;)
*Edit* I replied against my better judgement. The ladies are starting to get caddy it seems. Take the :leghump:kn car to another dealership. It's a new fkn car not a 30 year old pos. It shouldn't be so hard to have a dealership look at it. The op hasn't replied much as to what's going on and it seems it's turning into some sort of pee peeing match due to the fact that some think you'd look foolish taking it to a different dealership and some do not.
End thread.

Update 2/18: Talked to a few different people at the dealership and Ford (service manager, GM, Reps). Best offer is a rebuilt transmission for my brand new car (~ 2 weeks old), which could take a few weeks depends on parts availability. And maybe a rental. Any experience with rebuilds? I've heard and known mixed things.
