96 Question

Have the 4.6l
When I press the throttle more than 1/4 way, a weird noise comes from the engine that sounds like its running underwater.It's similar to a pinging noise, but its not pinging, however the car was pinging when I was using 87 gas a year ago but ever since I have used 93.

Only problem with the car is that it loses some oil when I go wot a lot, and I'm pretty sure that it's the valve seals. Would that have anything to do with it?

At 130k miles and I plan to keep this car until the motor goes, so any help is appreciated.

Valve stem seals are a common issue, but that wouldn't make it run badly unless you were losing massive amounts of oil. How old are the plugs and wires?

I replaced the spark plugs and wires about 10-15k miles ago
Pulled a few plugs out to check them and the tips were white but overall didn't look bad.

The tips should really be kinda brown or a rusty color when running right... White tips normally mean the motors running lean... I'm going to guess the fuel pump is weak but sounds like it mite not be getting enough gas???

Have you had it scanned??? If not go to your local Autozone or whatever and have them do a scan for codes... Could just be a crappy O2 but you never know...
