Dextron 5 in c4 after rebuild?

I ask the garage performing a rebuild on my C4 if the fluid would remain type F and they replied that for longevity reasons they will be using dexron 5. I have heard of dextron II or III fluid being used in rebuilds before but I have never heard of Dexron 5.

Isn't that fluid synthetic? Can i use synthetic fluids in an old ford tranny even newly rebuilt? I thought Mercon was made for Fords, not Dexron?

Have you heard of this being used in C4's before?

If the tranny can work and last on that stuff I am told it has better heat dissipation properties and the addition of friction modifiers which will preserve the clutches.

Sound accurate to you?
