Good day all, I need some expert advice on how to proceed after learning that my Prado engine has been damaged. The vehicle is with a Toyota dealer in Pretoria and I will find out the full extent of the damage today, but the indications are for an engine overhaul. It has automatic transmission.
The way I see it is that I have two options:
1. repair the engine that's in the vehicle.
2. replace the engine.
My problem with option 1 is that the Kzte engine is a 4 cylinder and (I think) not big enough for pulling a boat trailer (recently acquired). I would like a 6 cyl engine. So the option then is to repair and trade the vehicle in on another. I like the Prado and will buy one again, also my Prado is just right for me, apart from the engine.
I am contemplating having a V6 diesel engine fitted to replace the current engine. Now the advice please?
Is this feasible?
What engine is suitable?
What is the estimated cost?
Would a petrol engine be a better option?
Thanks.
