mball said:For about the 50th time MP67, I was speaking of the MR edition Evo which has NOT come out yet, wont be out till fall. That should give you time to put on all your mods and things you think will make your car handle better then one of the best handling cars ever made, so go ahead. I put a deposit down on one already so no worries, when it comes out, I will still be glad to come by and give ya a spankin
I don't know how accurate those times you got there are, but lets just put like this. Evos are priced around $30K, and maybe you could get one for $28 or so. So if a GT is $26K you may be able to get it for $24K. You save $4K right there. The $4K plus throw the $3K you would have spent on modding the Evo and you could have a pretty serious GT. Not only that you will have a nicer car the can handle the power. The Evo and STi are cool and I am impressed with their performance, but I'm not impressed with there problems. I don't think they are that reliable. They're not even that could on gas. It all comes to preference. Do you want a 4 dr sedan 4 banger turbo AWD or a 2dr V8. IMO, I prefer the stang, thats why I have two.mball said:hmmm? If you can turn a current model GT into a car that does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and the quarter in 12.1 for less then $3K, please let me know.

Honestly dude, not to rain on your parade, but now your just taking cheap shots at everyone. Its obivious you already made up your mind so, why are you wasting our time with this. I'm not going to argue with you. The Evo and STI are cools cars and I'm sure you'll be very happy with them. This is a mustang Forum and people come here to discuss mustang and find out information about them. Not to get into a pissing contest about a Mustang being better than a Evo. You wanted our opinion and you got it. Move on, let it got. You already put a deposit, great, good luck with it and let us and let us know when the turbo blows up and you're pulling engine parts out of you oil pan. Oh yeah, chicks love Mustangs, thats how I bagged my wife. GOD BLESS AMERICA and AMERICAN MUSCLE

Z28x said:Again, The Evo 8 an US Evo are slightly different. Japanese version has Active Center Differential and Active Yaw Control and a 6 speed Manual. Go down to your local Mitsu dealer and try to shift the US Evo into 6th gear and then come back and tell us it is the execat same car.
THis article calls the US Evo the Evo 7.5 http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0303scc_lancer/
Check out the performance #'s from Road and Track http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=691&page_number=1
Hear is another article saying how the US (Evo) and Japanese (Evo 8) are very similar but different: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=592&page_number=6
So once again the Evo 8 in Japan has different hardware than the US Evo thus making them NOT THE SAME, you and mball are WRONG
SVTdriver said:slo00stang said:So they made the evo 8 bigger, more expensive, heavier, and with less power. But it is supposed to go faster than the evo7? I'm not sure I get that. But since you brought it up. Can you please explain it?
when did i ever say that the evo7 is slower than the us evo 8?
You did not. But read your webpage postings for top speeds.slo00stang said:when did i ever say that the evo7 is slower than the us evo 8?
Sxhawnn said:After seeing all the 2005 pictures and the specs, I was wondering how it would match up to the current 2003 Lancer Evolution. The key thing for me is speed and I don't care about some great mustang legacy or being loyal to ford. So how do you guys think ford's new 4.6 3 valve engine will match up to an Evo's 2.0 Liter Engine that cranks out 273 Hp all wheel drive. Btw Whats with the obssession with more liters? Does more liters give you a stronger feel or greater speed? This will possibly be the first mustang that I will ever own and thus I don't know all that much about cars with a great amount of liters in the engine. So i'm quite torn between these cars and even though i suspect that your response would be biased I'd greatly appreciate any input.
slo00stang said:jesus, you wont give up will you? i dont care "if its more like the evo 7" or its "more like a mix of them." the fact is, it IS an evo8. the first article even says it! "only it's called the EVO 8."
"Hear is another article saying how the US (Evo) and Japanese (Evo 8) are very similar but different"
have you not been reading?! thats what im pointing out. they are different. the fact is they are both evo8's. there is a u.s. version of the evo8, and there is a japanese version. accept that i am right and get over it already!
dagodplaya said:Why are you all arguing about this? The evo is an evo 8, period. Just because its differnt in the jdm market doesn't mean anything. The USDM STi has a 2.5 liter engine, JDM STi has a 2.0, that mean what i'm driving now isn't an STi? Things change with between JDM market and USDM market, the lancer evolution that is out right now is an evolution 8.
