Oil Pump Priming

I installed a new oem oil pump and buttoned up the pan and then read that you need to prime the pump before installing. Just wondering if it will pull it with a drill primer with no oil in the pump or do I need to pull the pan off and fill the pump with oil?

Just fill the motor up like normal then run the drill in the counterclockwise direction to prime the motor

if it wont pull up oil press, I think you can take the oil filter off and squirt oil in the holes and it will run down in the pump, then put the drill back on ,, and the filter back on

Any particular drill attachement that works better than others to prime the oil?

I've used a plain old Craftsman 1/4" drive, 5/16 socket and a long extension before. It fits into the opening and as long as you're careful it won't pop off the extension and fall into the motor. Worked for me.

u can buy the correct tool from summit to prime it

Turns out you can borrow them from AutoZone/O'Reillys...cool. Actually saved a couple $ on this project, that's a first.
