oil question should be an easy one

k guys so on my fox on the upper right hand gauge(oil) it is reading a little to close the the "h" and isnt straight up and down what would be the reason for this. in oil h and l stang for high and low right, so is it oil pressure guess im confused

It's not where the needle points in so much as it's the consistancy. What I mean by that is you want the gauge to always point to the same place under the same conditions. When you start the car up with cold oil the gauge should read high. Then as the oil warms up it should drop a bit. If you take the car out and run it real hard the gauge should stay high until you let the engine idle. Since the oil would be really hot the needle might point below the halfway mark.

But if you're used to the needle pointing way high when you start it up and one day it barely moves off of the L then you have a problem.

You'll hear a lot of people tell you to get aftermarket gauges but unless those gauges have been calibrated they are really no better than the gauges the car comes from the factory with.
