Timing for B303??????

Need to set the timing on my 5.0. Has the B303 with 1.7's.
Anyone Know what I should be setting it at?

I started my B-cammed car with 10 degrees, vacuum advance line plugged. I have tinkered with it at higher initials, but 10 degrees will get it started and runs fine. This was on my carbureted '85, but regardless of delivery system, if your ignition is properly set up (ie, #1 aligned at TDC compression) and your cam / crank are not out of sync, 10 degrees works fine for your initial startup and beyond.

I run 14* and 93 octane. As long as your not getting pinging you should be fine. I think 14 is perfect.

depends a lot more on your combo and set up. When i had my b cam, I ran 16 degrees of timing in the summer with 34 degree's fuel pressure. Never ran lean on the dyno or the track., but I had 24lb injectors and a 255 fuel pump. Any mods, heads, aluminum or iron.. more info.. .... 10 - 12 degrees should get ya bumpin for now though.

Aluminum heads like more ignition timing. Add more till it runs slower then back off 2*

I used to have a 302 in my hatch with the E303 I ran 14* and It ran awesome. I also had 1.7 rockers 65mm throttle body, 70mm maf and ported heads. hope this helps

I have a few mods... Typhoon, shortys, CA, o/r pipe.

What is this thing I need to do with the vacume when Setting it?? What if I have a Vacume leak that is plugged up? It's Between the fire wall and the intake. Three small hoses conect together. One is missing from somewere?? so Its plugged.

Hmmm, I am not sure what your talking about with the vaccum stuff. I can go out in the garage and look. As far as i have ever known, with our fuel injection cars you dont have to do anything but pull out the spout connector attatched to the distirbutor, and adjust the timing. I marked my balancer with white out on 10, 14, 16, 18 degree's so it was easier to see with the timing light. .. thats all i know of.. Someone else care to chime in?? If you dont have an adjustable fuel regulator I probably would stick around 14 degrees. Ah ha.. i just re-red teh original replies BT15 did his on a carb'd car... you dont need to worry about the vaccumm stuff.. hehe.. If you have any more ??s just post up.
