Hey everyone, I have a 91 mustang. I completely rebuilt my 302 added gt40 intake upper and lower and a b303 cam. That’s it. I drove it for about a week it was fine but I noticed it would stall at stop lights or coming to a complete stop, (motor is timed to a tea) then it would shift erratically here and there. It eventually went bad I’m in the process of getting it rebuilt so my question to you all is do I have to upgrade the converter to a higher stall converter so it doesn’t stall at stop lights or complete stops, and if I do is it fine with my 2.73 gears, note I only installed b cam for sound not power I don’t care about power I just want to drive the car, so if I DONT have to upgrade anything else I won’t but do I HAVE to upgrade the converter and will it help that problem?

With a b cam the stock converter can make it sluggish coming off a stop but it shouldn’t make the engine stall when coming to a stop (unless the converter is faulty).

What’s the base idle set at? Maybe turn that up a little and see if it prevents the stalling.

You stated you don’t care about best performance but a higher stall converter and lower rear gears will surely improve acceleration. However, in my opinion a property functioning stock converter shouldn’t make it stall like you described.
