Drove an Evo-8, now my car is slow...

Drove an Evo-8 this weekend and honestly, I almost **** myself with the power this thing put down.

AWD ftmfw man.
This thing gripped corners like no tomorrow.
When the turbo kicked in I had to hold on for my life.
The Recaro's hugged me. I never moved an inch even taking circles @ 40.
The gear box felt so smooth.
The interior was quiet, no creaks, no cheap plastic.
I had CONFIDENCE in the steering wheel. When I turned the wheel a tad, the car MOVED. Not like all the free play we have in our cars.

I got back in my stang and was sad. Our cars are only good in going really fast in a straight line.

Drive an 88 bonneville for 4 months straight then get back into your mustang and that steering wheel will feel tighter than...*insert some sexual reference*...

Yeah evo's are sweet and powerful cars, I know about 4 or 5 people up here who own a few, most with 400+hp (one was in the low 10's last season).

Yea man, I know they only have 289hp stock, but jeesh, even stock, the boost acceleration made my stang feel slow. Maybe it's because I'm on snow tires and haven't seen boost in a month.

Yeah they are sweet cars, sweet looking too. Once you get back into your boost though you'll love your car over again (hopefully).

The only drawback is the fact that those evo owners don't have to worry about snow flying or not

Like I said, I haven't seen true boost in close to a month and my tires don't grip for ass, so I just spin out all over. So I think it was just seeing boost again that made me fall in love. ALso, don't forget, our cars are pigs.

they will smackdown the play in the steering wheel you have now. I have the Steeda ones and they have made a huge huge difference. Absolutely no play in the steering wheel and the car goes where it is pointed.

they also sell urethane bushings that are only $18 a pair, I've wanted to do that for the longest but i havne't bought them yet. The play in the steering is TERRIBLE though i complain about ti all the time.

We don't have the American Pride respect up here, the police hate all sports cars equally up here. That's probably because there is nothing better to do though (small town feel in a town of 200,000), places like you they can understand the larger picture.

What's the pros/cons of aluminum vs. urethane?

[EDIT: nevermind. on the site it says urethan provides 1/2 the benefit of aluminum with zero noise increase.

my understanding is that urethane bushings make less noise and that aluminum (solid) bushings are mostly used on tracks. Rubber is terrible and doesn't hold its proper shape for long and that's what gives that 1/2 inch of play in the wheel

Again, what's the install like on this piece? My friend in his SE-R said you can't do it in his car with the engine in and it's like a 6 hour job. That would suck...is our easier?

yeah much easier the install directions are on maximum's website.

Its not the bushings on the steering rack that create all the play, it is the coupler half way down the steering shaft. Im still trying to decide If i want to replace mine with oe, or use the solid flaming river shaft.
the other parts help, but once you do them all, the steering shaft play is staring you in the face.
