I just bought a new Spec clutch kit and will be changing it out this weekend. I wanted to know if ther is anything else that I will need to do the job. I have all the ramps, jacks, stands, and the normal awray of tools; but am I going to be halfway through the job and need something else? Any help would be great.

i havent done one yet on mine but from what ive read take the top bolts out first. also the third starter bolt is a bitch. so that will take some time other than that i cant see it being that bad also leave it in gear when you take it out so you turn the shaft in the back to help line it up with the clutch

I strongly suggest you replace the clutch fork pivot ball while you are in there.. Those things get eaten up and are one of the biggest reasons people have a stiff clutch.. also inspect the pivot fork socket where it meats the pivot ball for damage.

The hardest part of the job is the top starter bolt. as somebody else also said get a very long 3/8 extension.

The top bolt on the starter can be reached with aforementioned swivel and extensions and reaching it between the engine and K member. It would be good to have 2 people. One to guide the socket onto the bolt and the other to operate the wrench.

Don't worry about replacing the top bolt. Not many people do.

I am going to have 2 people helping me do the job, so that should be a problem. Is there anything else that I should change at the same time, what about the flywheel, refinish or new?

i usually recommend a new stock flywheel to my customers. you can resurface the original as long as it's not loaded with heat spots or worse cracked..

AGREED! These are inexpensive parts and they do wear. We replaced EVERYTHING when we had my wife's clutch replaced...new flywheel, PP, clutch disc, TOB, bolts, pivot ball, fork...
