good 1/8 mile gear combos

What is a good gear to run in the 1/8 mile with a TCI C4.

with your engine, the highest you can get, 5.13 or so will work. You'll only be trapping about 80-85 mph, but you'll get there with relative haste.

I got a new 302 I just built and I want a good strip gear that I could put in just for the strip and maybe the street. The 302 should be putting out around 350-400 running M/T 275/50/15, Right now I got 3.73 for the street.

What rpm do you want to pass the traps at?(not redline)
5.13 @ 6k rpm is 90 mph.
4.88 is 94...

I agree, as high of a gear as possible.

BUT, that's only if this is a 1/8th mile strip only car. If you plan to do some highway driving you'll need to keep it down to 4.11's at the highest.

wow, 3.55s and highway driving is plenty for me with a c4.

I guess if its a purpose built 1/8 mile car . . . I would rather spray it. Then you won't need the gear

But if you had the spray AND the gears you'd go even faster yet

4.11's I said was the highest. I used to have a 3speed auto with my 3.73's and I found even they were a little to much for my liking.

don't fear the gear . . .

I have been at 8.03 @ 86 in the 1/8 with 3.55s and a c4. I was debating on 3.80s but I realized that I actually drive the car other places than at the track.

To each their own I guess.
