How big is our gas tank?

I believe its a hair above 15 gal.

Easiest thing to do is to fill it up to the top, set your trip odo to zero, go drive for a while, like 1/2 a tank, and go fill up again and look at the number of gallons on the pump when its full, and divide the number of miles by the number of gallons.

Stephane is right on. It's 15.4 gallons though no one can ever get that much in there (there's a difference in the volume of the tank and how much gas can be pumped in there - for density and overflow reasons).

Since Eric doesnt like math, the tank holds 2.6 bodies. :D

Or idling forever.

I'm reminded of my buddy (67 fastback, 428CJ). He doesnt drive the car much over the winter. His first fill-up of the season generally nets 2 mpg. :D

Are you driving on the highway in overdrive or on backroads where u shift through the gears a lot? That makes a big difference. I used to go all rural routes to school but now i go on a larger state road where i can run 55-60 and keep it in 5th....easily another 40 or so miles to the tank.

I have the feeling that once you get miles per number of gallons figured out, it will be better. It's rare to get more than 14 gallons into a tank.
