transformers

You think the 80's Transformers cartoons were bad? Does anybody remember watching any of the old GI Joe 'toons? ... or the movie of that? WOW. Even back then, I found it a little bit hard to stomach ... but it was certainly better than the other crap that was on at the time. I was always rushing my happy arse home from school to flip on WGN to watch Transformers and GI Joe episodes played back-to-back for most of the weekdays - 3pm to 4 or 5pm were the best hours of TV Mon-Fri, back then. :nice:

Optimus Prime getting killed off in the Transformers movie was a major downer for me as a kid. I was all kinds of  when they brought him back in that one special TV episode, later on. And then, for whatever reason, they just up and stopped playing episodes on TV. And then the toy product line sort of disappeared, and then ... well, I hit puberty, and bewbies became my favorite toy. :D

Don't get me started. If you are a real Transformers fan and you liked that movie you have problems. It was an awesome looking movie, don't get me wrong. The special effects and the action were great. But from a Transformers perspective it was total garbage. There was no character development with the Autobots at all, Megatron is barely even in it, The transformers are made to be funny. There are so many things that were bad. I understand that everything can't be the same but they didn't even try. There is a guy on Yahoo reviews that gave it like a D + on the reviews and he nailed everything on the head. He also said this, which I thought was hilarious
MICHAEL BAY - YOU SUCK

So for this movie to make you happy it would of had to been what?, about 5 hours long? There was a whole lot to pack into one movie, which was already pretty long.

I was into transformers when i was a kid, and i thought this movie held true to the original cartoon theme as much as any movie based on a comic book or cartoon i've ever seen.

I hate when people look too much into movies and disect them.

I for one, enjoyed this movie as much as any i've ever seen in a theater.

Well I hate when people accept crappy renditions of possibly the best cartoon/toy ever made. Tell me, what yould you rather like to see? Tyrese running around with a bunch of humans trying to fight this gigantic robot, while Anthony Anderson and Jon Voight are fighting some turd of a robot after eating a plate full of donuts. Or another car chase with that badass Mustang or maybe a fight involving one of the other Transformers that are barely even in the damn movie? The movie is supposed to be about the Autobots and Decepticons, not hearing about some fat guy eat a plate full of donuts. Don't get me wrong here, I laughed at all the jokes, and I enjoyed all the special effects just as much as anyone else, but I think they should have done it differently. There was that whole stupid scene where Gigantic robots are hiding outside of Sam's (it should have been Spike, also dumb) house while he finds those dumb glasses. They could have easily taken that time and developed the characters a little more. The plot was bad too. I don't want to ruin anything else for anyone else but they could have done a better job with that.
I will be the first to admit that I am a huge nitpicker when it comes to movies, but this is the only movie besides X-Men 3 that I did not like. I love what people have done with Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman, but I feel that they could have done a better job with the Transformers. But I guess excuse me for wanting more than just a couple explosions, some awesome special effects, and some hot @ss girl.

Go watch Go-Bots

Such a bad ass movie. I can't say enough good things about it and I was really into the cartoon back in the day. They gotta make a sequel.

There it s your movie taste sucks because spiderman 3 was the most god awful movie i ever paid 8 dollars to see.. 2 of the 5 five batman movies suck and superman returns sucked..
Transformers was all in all a great movie..

Ok, I'll give you Spider-Man 3 ( 1 and 2 were both very good). The only really good part of 3 is Venom. And I like how you referenced the older Batman movies that you didn't like but omitted the old Superman movies which were all pretty decent. I agree with you again that Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were trash as well. Joel Schumacher ruined the franchise. Batman Begins was also excellent. Superman Returns was a good movie, because it was more like the older ones. It had awesome effects, a decent story ( better than trying to find some stupid cube that turns soda machines into robots), and it wasn't 3+ hours long. Besides the whole superman-baby crap there was nothing about that movie that was really much different from the others. I think if Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, Superman Returns) would have directed Transformers it would have been more true to the cartoon and still would have been better.

I saw it last night. I don't know anything about transformers, so I can't really pick it apart, but I enjoyed it. The special effects were awesome, and there were a lot of cool vehicles. The Stang and Camaro were badass. The only thing I didn't like is how they always manage to squeeze a romance into action movies. But the girl was really hot, so I guess it was worth it.
