Have to hold key on to keep it runing

On my 89 (4 to 5.0) I have to hold the key on (like starteing) to keep it run.
any one know some thing to try let me know.

the key switch is broke the electrical part of it.

I will try that, but it was working fine when the car had the 2.3, but then I put the 5.0 in you have to hold the key on, to keep it runing.

Bad ignition switch will do the same thing sometimes before it breaks completely. It happened to me on the way home from work one day and I had to hold the key for about 10 minutes to get home. It would still start and run as long as I held the key in the "start" position but the ignition switch eventually came completely apart.

It's a pretty common problem with foxes. I even ordered an extra one when I got my new fox, just in case.

Either you wired it wrong, or the switch is on its way out. Issues often pop up when you do major work.change things around.

If it's not the switch, then there are two 12v wires that go to the TFI. One is on in "crank" (TFI pin #4) and the other is on in "run" (TFI pin #3).

I got it runing, it was the Ignition switch, now I just need to put 8.8 in the car and finish it.
